My Philosophy

An integrated and flexible approach to psychotherapy.

PHILOSOPOHY AND THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

I come to the practice of psychotherapy with a philosophy that considers how your unique, personal experience, family history and constitutional factors inform interpretations, feelings, decisions, as well as beliefs about oneself, others, the world and the future.  I take a strength–based, collaborative approach with the goal of enhancing an individual’s sense of worth, vitality, and efficacy in order to find balance and meaning in life.  Rather than taking a “cookie cutter” approach to intervention, I integrate a variety of treatment modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, somatic and relationship-based interventions to conceptualize problems and establish personalized treatment goals.

I strive to create a stable, nurturing, empathic environment in which to safely explore difficult feelings and experiences.  Together we clear the debris that maintains emotional distress or unhealthy patterns to make room for deep insights, healthier perspectives and effective coping strategies.

I work with a variety of mental health issues, life stressors and concerns including:

  • Anxiety, Fears and Phobias
  • Depression and Persistent Melancholia
  • Life Transitions and Adjustments
  • Trauma, Loss and Bereavement
  • Relationship Stressors
  • Health Related Stressors
  • Adoption, Divorce and Parenting Concerns
  • Disruptive Behavior Disorders
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Early childhood (0-5) Mental Health Disorders
  • Parent-Child Attachment Related Concerns
