Adult Psychotherapy

I offer individual treatment for adults experiencing a range of mental health concerns and life stressors.

As human beings we are all born with the capacity to adapt and cope but sometimes those innate mechanisms are overloaded in even the most resilient of individuals, causing to anxiety, anger, panic, depression, relational stress, etc. to ensue.  Whether the emotional pain or distress is a function of unresolved issues from the past or a function of current circumstances a flexible, integrated, personalized approach to conceptualizing and treating the problem is often useful.

I take both a bottom up and top down approach.  Bottom up refers to unearthing the experiential, familial and biological factors as well as adaptive defensive mechanisms underlying symptoms (i.e., psychodynamic) while top down refers to challenging the thoughts and behaviors that are maintaining them (i.e., cognitive behavioral).

Emotional pain is inevitable but you don’t have to suffer.  My hope is to empower you with the insight, self-acceptance and effective strategies to live more fully, freely and authentically.
